Metal Additive Manufacturing

Lillbacka uses advanced laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) additive manufacturing technology to produce advanced high-strength steel parts for Finn-Power machines. In addition, we offer additive manufacturing subcontracting services.
As one of the few machine shops with in-house additive manufacturing capability, we are able to combine the advantages of additive manufacturing and traditional manufacturing methods into hybrid production. This enables flexible manufacturing of highly durable parts. The additively manufactured parts and tools we produce are high machine-shop-grade quality.
Hybrid Manufacturing of Finn-Power Special Dies
Since 2018, we have utilized additive manufacturing especially in the production of special dies for Finn-Power crimping machines. Laser powder bed fusion is a flexible and fast method for manufacturing complex parts. Additive manufacturing allows us to produce the dies from advanced high-strength steel, which further improves their durability.
We also additively manufacture fasteners and tools for our own production. All additively manufactured parts are finished in-house with machining and surface treatment.
Additive Manufacturing Subcontracting Services
We provide additive manufacturing subcontracting services for local companies. The products we additively manufacture for our customers include prototypes, one-off parts, tools, and mold components. The material used is advanced high-strength steel. Additively manufactured parts are finished with machining and surface treatment in-house.
Flexibility in part design and fast lead times can make additive manufacturing the preferred solution especially for low-volume production. Customers gain the greatest benefit when the manufacturing method is taken into account already in the design phase.
Lillbacka was among the first Finnish machine shops to adopt in-house additive manufacturing. Thanks to our experience, we are able to offer customers support and consultation related to part design, ensuring printability and successful
outcomes.
