Lillbacka’s Investment Project is Progressing – Next Step: Enterprise System

In 2023, Lillbacka Powerco received EU co-funding for a project to upgrade the machinery of its machining department. The aim of the project is to advance automation and digitalization, thereby increasing production efficiency and flexibility.

As part of the project, two new machines have been acquired for the machining department: a new lathe and a new portal milling machine. The lathe was commissioned in May 2024, and the milling machine followed less than a year later, in March 2025. The milling machine represents the largest single investment in the company’s history.

For example, the new milling machine reduces the production time of Finn-Power crimper frames by nearly half, significantly improving production efficiency. The project has thus achieved its main objective.

Project continues

The new lathe and milling machine account for roughly half of the project’s budget. Originally scheduled to conclude on December 31, 2025, the project has now been extended to include another major step toward digitalization: the implementation of a new enterprise system.

The goal of the new system is to streamline the company’s business processes so that the entire supply chain – from distributors to spare parts and maintenance – operates as seamlessly as possible.

The new completion date for the project is by the end of 2027. The project is co-funded by the European Union.
